Direct mail platform Stannp.com has invested £100,000 in new specialist kit to support its fast growth – with aims to double its turnover in the next year.

Based in Barnstaple, North Devon, the company has earlier this month taken delivery of a refurbished Buhrs BB700 with inline inkjet and full camera integrity, supplied by German company Winkler and Dunnebier (W+D), as well as a secondhand MB Bäuerle cross folder, which it acquired from a liquidator of a company that closed.

The additional kit will increase the production capacity at Stannp.com’s UK production site to well over 500,000 items a day. The business also runs kit from Xerox and CMC at the circa-930sqm facility.

While it completes mail production for its UK customers in-house, print production for the company’s customers in the US and Canada is contracted to three operations, in Colorado, Denver; Buffalo, New York; and Toronto, Canada. The business has also recently opened a new US sales office in Colorado.

Stannp.com saw its sales jump by 25% to £4.7m for the year ending 30 June 2021, including a bumper increase in US sales – where it is currently experiencing exponential growth – from £89,000 to £802,000.

US sales are forecast to overtake UK sales by late 2022, with group revenue of £9.8m forecast for 2022.

Stannp.com said its UK revenue also increased during the coronavirus pandemic, by 7%, despite many of its vertical markets such as theatres, travel, and B2B pausing activity. The business also serves clients in sectors including e-commerce, utilities, health, finance, and insurance.

Growth director Sam Heaton said: “We are in a good place right now. Our platform has an extensive features list which put us ahead of the competition; our transparent pricing with no subscriptions or hidden fees makes us easy to deal with.

“Customers value this and [it] is why we are growing so quickly. Couple this with the massive opportunity to scale the US, 2022 is looking to be an exciting year.”

He told Printweek the US growth was largely due to new customer wins, with the company now getting more registrations to its platform in the US than in the UK.

The business is looking likely to achieve US sales of around $250,000 (£184,000) for this month – up from $150,000 last month.

Earlier this year Stannp.com launched a new service that offers its customers full real-time visibility of mail pieces as they pass through the UK and US mail networks.

The company has also just rolled out a new engagement tracking facility that enables users to integrate QR codes within mail campaigns using a drag and drop editor. The system tracks any clicks and automatically matches back to a customer’s mailing list, simplifying ROI campaign calculation.

Stannp.com has continued to take on new staff over the last year and aims to increase its current headcount of 38 by 50% to 57 by the end of 2022.
