Specle rolls out improved feature set

Specle has launched an update to its free online advertising specification database, Specle.net, which includes an improved feature set based on user feedback.

The update includes an improved search facility, as well as changes to the information that can be saved on the database.

On the Ad Specs page, there is a new Preparing Files section to draw attention to how files should be exported to publication requirements. Specle has also added a summary that shows the PDF/X version to export files to, the resolution to which images should be created, and the minimum text size recommended by the publisher.

Meanwhile, magazine publishers can now specify both a cover profile and a text profile, for ads that appear either on the cover or the main content, while the user is told which settings to use to convert to CMYK.

Publishers will also be able to set the binding for magazines - either saddle stitch of perfect bound - which will be shown in future to indicate how users should prepare double-page ads.
