SM bids to become one-stop finishing shop with "good as new" tipper

Print finisher SM Finishing has moved into a new sector after installing a secondhand tipper, which the company considers to be "as good as new".

Nottingham-based SM Finishing bought a Maverick placer, which was installed in November 2010.

The £750,000-turnover 15-staff company previously offered standard cut and fold work, as well as gluer mailing.

However, managing director Gary Benner said that he wanted the business to be able to offer more of a "one-stop shop" for its customers.

He said: "Like all finishers we want to add value. Our customers that come to us for cutting and folding or mailing work needn't go elsewhere now."

Benner added that the £20,000 machine had hardly been used by its previous customer. "It is secondhand," he said. "But as far as we are concerned it could be a new machine."
