Route One Print invests in Speedmaster XL 75

Online trade printer Route One Print has bought a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75-4+L to boost its efficiency and print quality.

The press, which was installed at the Templeborough, Rotherham-based company's premises in September, can print at up to 18,000sph and will primarily be used for run lengths of over 5,000.

The XL 75 is a new addition to Route One's plant list. The firm, which offers litho, digital and wide-format services, also operates additional Heidelberg kit as well as machinery from Komori and Xerox and a range of finishing equipment. The business has also recently installed an HP Scitex FB10000 for its wide-format work.

“We looked at other suppliers but the output quality and post purchase support that Heidelberg provides with our existing equipment was the main factor in our decision,” said managing director Adam Carnell.

“Something that has really impressed us is the flexibility the press offers with regards to the range of stocks that can be printed on it. Our flyers and leaflets are available from 150gsm to 350gsm, while our standard business cards come on 450gsm silk.

“There are few presses out there that can handle the 450gsm stocks without slowing down the time it takes to set up the press.”

The firm's XL 75 is specified with Inpress Control automated colour and register control and Pressroom Manager. Inpress Control will reduce the company's waste and improve its accuracy, quality and the speed of its makeready while Pressroom Manager will further help to automate quality checks.

The business also has plans to upgrade its website, which was launched in April.

Channel manager Jack Wilmott said: “We plan on really enhancing our buying process to make it the most efficient in the market as well as deliver real benefits to print resellers through features such as advanced order tracking, instant proofing and the ability to order file copies of work.

“We’ve also got plans to expand our range of reseller tools, which were launched last month. This range includes unbranded sample packs and catalogues that our customers can purchase in bulk and send out to their clients in hope of showing them the true potential of print.

“In the future we plan to allow customers to add their own branding to these, so in essence we are providing our customers with a pre-packaged marketing kit.”

Route One Print was established last year as the web-to-print arm of Bluetree Design & Print. It produces items including flyers, booklets, business cards, posters, leaflets, roller banners and stickers for customers including print resellers, copy shops and marketing and design agencies.
