Rich List placings for print and packaging industry members

The print and packaging industry has been well represented in this year's <i>Sunday Times Rich List</i> with some 23 entries, one as high as seventh place.

Leading the field, Hans Rausing, inventor of the Tetra Pak, is believed to be worth some £5.4bn. He slips from sixth to seventh place this year.

At the other end of the list, there were four new print entrants, including Lord Gavron, chair of the Folio Society, whose sale of St Ives shares landed him £34m. David Instance joins Gavron at position 1,259, after he sold 49% of his pharmaceutical instruction print business. Both have a n estimated fortune of £60m.

Andrew Pindar and Terry Brady are at 1,446, worth an estimated £50m each, as owners of Pindar and Alito Color Group respectively.

In newspapers, Sir Ray Tindle heads the list at 362, with an estimated net worth of £225m.

John Madejski tops the publishers, placed at 214. He is believed to have added £174m from the sale of AutoTrader to his personal wealth, reported as £400m.

PrintWeek publisher Haymarket's chairman Lord Heseltine is the only established Rich List name in publishing on the rise. His £250m fortune is based entirely on his complete ownership of Haymarket, Britain's largest privately owned magazine publisher, having bought-out minority shareholders last year.
