European labels and packaging group Asteria made its second UK acquisition, buying Berkshire Labels. Berkshire managing director Paul Roscoe said the company had been approached many times in the past, but suitors hadn’t gelled with the firm’s plans until now... The print sector was represented on the New Year’s Honours list. Puneet Gupta, CEO of PG Paper, was awarded an OBE for services to business, to charity and to the community in Scotland. Meanwhile Gavin Killeen, managing director of Londonderry-based Nuprint Technologies, was awarded an MBE, for services to further education in Northern Ireland... Business services and IT provider Parseq acquired secure print specialist the Tall Group of Companies... Former Royal Mail CEO Rico Back slammed the actions of the current management over its handling of the industrial dispute with CWU workers... Brand Imaging acquired flexo platemaker Waldo with plans for growth for both brands... Marie Townsend, the sole director and majority share-holder of DML Digital Ltd was disqualified from being a director for 11 years after abusing Covid support loans... Juiliano Akeel Hussain, the sole director and majority shareholder of Rupert Design & Packaging Ltd, also received a lengthy ban for claiming Covid support the business was not eligible for... Royal Mail experienced “severe disruption” to its international export services, following a cyber incident... Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, printed by Clays in Suffolk, went on sale after stringent security operations reportedly saw it delivered to bookstores at the last minute from guarded storage sites. The book’s publisher said Spare had become the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever... Complete Business Solutions was acquired in a pre-pack deal by Banner and Staples owner EVO... The future of Screaming Colour, one of the UK’s leading creative digital printing firms was unclear after the business filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. Later in the month the company’s box-making division in Crayford was sold to Pureprint, but its main Bermondsey site was closed and its 55 staff made redundant... Royal Mail parent International Distributions Services put a £200m price tag on the cost of strike action in 2022... Graphic Packaging International moved its Bristol beverage packaging manufacturing operations to a new, state-of-the-art facility nearby, creating up to 30 new jobs... Prinovis announced it was to wind down its last remaining print plant, heralding the swansong of gravure technology at its parent, German media giant Bertelsmann... Tesco purchased the embattled Paperchase brand and related intellectual property, but not its stores... Commercial printer and print manager SF Taylor expanded its offering with the acquisition of promotional product specialist Branding365.... Packaging and stationery specialist Duraweld bought the order books and assets of Celsur Plastics, Ambroplastics and Abbey Stationery Products.
