Proskills successfully relicenses sector skills council status

Proskills chief executive Terry Watts has called on employers to "look afresh" at the skills in their business after the body successfully applied for a new trademark licence.

The sector skills council for process and manufacturing completed an assessment process led by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.

Watts said: "Proskills is grateful to all the employers and partners such as unions, trade associations and training providers, who have helped us get to grips with the skills needs of our sector.

"We have made tremendous progress, but there is still so much to do for employers and employees in the sector."

Business, innovation and skills secretary Lord Mandelson said the SSC came through a rigorous assessment that allows it to offer employers "the highest quality service in meeting their skills needs".
