ProofTek launches Operam Cloud

Pre-press workflow specialist ProofTek has launched Operam Cloud, an extension of its Operam software.

The software was initially launched last week by the one-person company that was formed in January 2016. It is its first new product, having spent the majority of this year upgrading its clients to the latest version of Operam. ProofTek is the only licensed seller of Operam software in the UK.

Operam Cloud retails at £99 per month for up to 100 processed pages per month, £199 for 300 processed pages and £899 for 2,000 processed pages.

ProofTek’s sole employee and managing director Colin Taylor said Operam Cloud is an evolution of the older Operam product. Current Operam users include PrintWeek’s 2016 SME of the Year Award-winner PH Media.

Taylor said: “As a product this has just been released so we’re still in the realms of getting it out there but certainly amongst printers, publishers and design agencies, people are very interested.

“Business is building well, we have spent most of the year getting existing customers back to the latest version of Operam, so now we need to concentrate on this side of it.”

Taylor referred to Operam Cloud as being a collaborative soft-proofing pre-press workflow product. The software allows the admin user to define each client’s requirement, centralising a customer’s proofing by sending automated emails to a client every time a change to a job is made.

Once a customer has approved a job, files can be delivered automatically to a pre-defined destination. It also has a correction tool, which allows the user to add comments to a job throughout its duration.

Taylor, who has previously worked for the likes of Agfa and TypeTronics, said he is considering recruiting next year, depending on the success of Operam Cloud. In its first year, the Derby-based outfit turned over around £150,000.

“ProofTek sits right at the front of virtually every print process. Every job that has to be printed has to go through a pre-press department, so anywhere within that area is where we can fit in,” he added.
