The POM concept, named after the inventors own initials, is designed to improve both the efficiency and environmental performance of the paper-making process by reducing the amount of water needed in the production process.
It also reduces the size of the wet end of the paper making machine allowing for a significant saving in the energy required for the process. It also improves the paper quality, cleanliness of the process and reduces the use of chemicals in the paper making process.
Among the companies that have installed POM Technology are International Paper, Ahlstrm Paper, Stora Enso, Torras Paper and ArjoWiggins.
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden will present Meinander with his award and a prize of 150,000 (SKr2m) in the autumn.
