Midsomer Norton-based repro house Prisma Imaging has taken delivery of a Heidelberg Topsetter 102 platesetter with Prinergy workflow to offer a trade platemaking service.
The system replaces its existing Agfa Apogee workflow and Avantra 44 and 25 imagesetters.
"We created a 16pp nightmare job and took it to Agfa, CreoScitex, Heidelberg and Screen," said managing director Alan Elvins. "We felt Heidelberg was furthest along the PDF route."
Prisma carries out repro for a range of companies in Bath, Bristol and London as well as neighbouring printer Barwell Colour Print, which makes up about one-third of its revenue.
"We treat plate as we treated film," said Elvins.
Prisma uses KPG Electra Excel plates and covers a wide range of markets including short-run packaging. It also invested in stochastic screening software.
