Print veteran Malcolm Greenleaf passes away

Industry veteran Malcolm Greenleaf has passed away from bowel cancer at the age of 73.

Greenleaf was sales director at pre-press company ec2i, formerly Essex Colour, for 20 years, working as a consultant to the company for the past three years.

Previously he was a sales director at Anglia Repro, where he spent 15 years, as well as running his own repro company, Colour Craftsman.

Mark Dane, managing director at ec2i, said: "Malcolm was unique, a truly special human being who brought a sparkle to all our lives. Once met, never forgotten. Even his booming voice was so distinctive that people always remembered him. We have all lost a great friend. It’s the end of an era."

Trevor Claydon of Ancient House Press added: "I have known Malcolm since I started work as a spotty 16 year old, 40 years ago, and he has always been a larger than life character. I could tell you some stories from years gone by. I will remember him fondly."

Beacon Press's Richard Owers said: "Malcolm will be sorely missed by many people because he added so much for so many. Gregarious, noisy, fun and knowledgeable he knew printing and people well. Malcolm was a one-off then they threw away the mould. I count myself as lucky to have known him and worked with him."
