Pride secures UK wide-format first

Pride Design & Print will become the first UK firm to install a wide-format printer from new brand Samsonn.

The Bradford-based firm is installing the Samsonn Digital Ecofast 1601, a 1.6m-wide eco-solvent machine to bring production of its exterior banner and vehicle livery in-house.

“Wide-format is the majority of our business at the moment and bringing solvent production in-house will make a massive difference,” said director Gary Pride.

Pride saw the machine at its launch at Sign & Digital UK at the NEC in April this year. He said that prior to the launch of the Ecofast 1601, which cost £9,995, the upfront cost of buying a printer was too expensive.

Pride added that he hoped that the three-strong firm would be able to double sales, move to a larger unit and take on an apprentice.

The Samsonn joins an Epson Stylus Pro aqueous wide-format printer and Xerox DocuColor 250 cut sheet colour machine, which the firm has operated since launching eight years ago.
