Pressision targets faster payments with Duplo spend

High-end commercial printer Pressision is set to install a Duplo multi-finisher at its Leeds headquarters to broaden its work mix and speed up its print to invoice time.

Founder James Taylor signed for the Duplo DC-646Pro at last week’s Dscoop in Dublin having previously seen the slitter-cutter-creaser in operation at several print sites.

He said he planned to use it for a number of special applications: “We might be pushing the boundaries on what it was designed for now and again.”

According to Taylor the investment was driven by his desire to build on the 30% month-on-month growth in April and May and help the firm achieve its £1.9m sales target for 2015/16.

“Basically it will enable us to speed up the time from order to invoice and effectively go end-to-end in the digital room, so we will be able print, finish and dispatch from one room and skip out some of the departments,” he said.

Currently some of the firm’s digital work goes into a queue for finishing after printing, which Taylor said just wasn’t feasible for some projects.

The 30ppm slitter-cutter-creaser can handle sheets up to 370x670mm and produces finished products down to 48x50mm.

The £64,000 DC-646Pro will be installed in the coming weeks and follows the firm’s £500,000 spend on an HP Indigo 5600 digital press and a raft of finishing kit last year.

£1.5m-turnover Pressision specialises in fashion look-books, fine art, luxury brochures and high-end social stationery, and as well as its production hub in Leeds it has a sales office in London.

As well as the Indigo and fully equipped bindery its kit includes a five-colour Komori Lithrone S29 plus coater, Roland DG wide-format printer, a number of Heidelberg cylinders and platens for letterpress printing and foiling, debossing and embossing.
