Police raid bogus documents firm

A print firm in Blackpool is under investigation in connection with production of fake insurance documents.

Detectives raided the company, which cannot be named for legal reasons, last week.

Police confiscated a large amount of cash and computer equipment, containing templates for making fraudulent documentation.

A 40-year-old local man was arrested and questioned before being released on bail.

Detective inspector Pat Gill, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit, said: “We appear to have uncovered a major insurance scam involving the issuing of false documentation. I must stress that this is not an insurance company we are investigating, but the printing of these documents.
“Motorists should check their documentation to make sure they are not victims.”

• Fifteen people have been charged by police in south London, following the discovery of an alleged passport counterfeiting factory, after raids last Wednesday.
