Operations director Chris Pavlosky said Greaves "continues to be a loss-making business, which we can no longer sustain in its current form", but added that "talk of closure at this time is premature".
A local newspaper reported that staff had been told the plant could close in April, but both Polestar and GPMU deputy general secretary Tony Burke dismissed this rumour.
