Overmatter: sharp cards

Here at PrintWeek Towers we are, of course, very appreciative of the Christmas cards we receive from our wonderful industry chums.

This season’s haul included an array of exquisite production techniques and clever design flourishes, and the cards brightened our office considerably during the festive period. Thank-you all.

A special merit for effort must go to Serious Print Group in Ashford, Kent, which – handily timed for the network premiere of the film on Christmas day – produced a Frozen parody featuring all of the company’s team members as subverted members of the cast of ‘Melted’.

We think there must be a few in-jokes in there (rat-tail pie anyone?), along with some potentially risqué jokes (“Let it go. Let it go. Before it falls off”).

Finance director Ian Metcalfe, who appears in Olaf form as “Not Olotaf Hair”, says: “It’s designed to be different and to put a smile on people’s faces. We know that people look forward to receiving it.”

It certainly did the trick here. We’re also going to take some organisational inspiration from Serious Print Group, as the team will start thinking about their 2017 theme in, gulp, February.
