Overmatter: charity round-up

A shout-out and a hat-tip go to the legion of print folk who are out there doing good work for good causes.

Maidstone’s Black Lion Press has presented a cheque for £9,400 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, following the fourth annual Matteo golf day – Matteo being director Mark Stokes’ son, who was born with a congenital cataract requiring complex surgery and aftercare. “A massive thanks for everyone who took part or sponsored.

We have now raised £33,214 in four years. The fifth event will take place next year and long may it continue,” says Mark.

richard-gilgrass-celloglasCelloglas managing director Richard Gilgrass (left), with three golfing buddies, has just begun a 1,150-mile cycle ride in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and Melanoma UK. His ‘Tour de Ryder Cup’ (@TourDeRyderCup) will take in 13 Ryder Cup venues across the UK and Ireland over nine days.

Web-to-print specialist Vpress is sponsoring the ‘100 Project’, a photographic initiative that is raising money for a number of cancer charities. www.the100project.net.

Last but not least Print Research International’s John Charnock is attempting to raise £250 to encourage “grumpy ex-Picon chairman” Martyn Elmy to undertake the ice bucket challenge. www.justgiving.com/John-Charnock.
