Olympus Print Group has been acquired by Hamburg-headquartered All4Labels Global Packaging Group.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and will see Olympus – based in Pudsey outside Leeds, West Yorkshire – become the first UK subsidiary of All4Labels. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

All4Labels CEO Adrian Tippenhauer said: “This transaction represents a new milestone for All4Labels as we will get access to the important and dynamic UK market with a strong partner who can cater existing and future customers with high-quality label solutions.

“The acquisition marks the beginning of our strategy to build a leading business unit in the United Kingdom through investments in organic and acquisitive growth. Along with our leadership team, I look forward to working with the Olympus Print Group team on our joint growth and success for many years to come.”

Olympus Print Group’s former owners will become co-shareholders of the All4Labels Group and will continue to manage the business.

Director Steve Cartwright said: “After 28 years of building the Olympus brand, we are proud of our reputation for technical expertise, high quality and strong focus on customer service.

“The decision to join a partnership with a global, like-minded and innovative packaging group was made easy as All4Labels shares the same strong values as Olympus Print Group. The full senior management team and employees look forward to working with All4Labels in the future.”

The deal is the fifth acquisition made by the All4Labels Group in the last twelve months, as it aims to accelerate its global growth strategy.

Olympus Print Group operates from a 5,000sqm production site and employs 80 staff. It runs inkjet and inline high-speed hybrid machinery, as well as label presses, and specialises in the production of self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves and wide-format print.

In its most recent accounts filed at Companies House, for the year ended 30 September 2021, the business recorded a turnover of £11.3m, up from £11.1m a year earlier.

The group, which serves clients in personal care, wine and spirits, and the beer industry, was advised on the deal by Schofield Sweeney.

Martin Sweeney, partner at the law firm, said: “Both businesses have created strong brands that clients trust. The partnership is the perfect vehicle to drive further national and international growth and success, I wish them all the very best.”
