High quality carton manufacturer Offset Print & Packaging has taken on a new Baumann BSW7-2000 pile turner to support its growth.

Purchased from Friedheim International, the exclusive distributor for Baumann technology in the UK and Ireland, the automated device was installed at Offset’s facility in Aylesford, Kent in January.

The business said it had previously worked with Friedheim International when purchasing a Koenig & Bauer gluer and therefore had no hesitation in returning to the supplier for this investment.

“We needed a new pile turner machine due to our ongoing year-on-year growth and to also keep in line with our strategic investment plans across all areas of the business,” said Offset Print & Packaging managing director of operations Vince Brearey.

“We already have a large-format pile turner, but due to the increased volumes that we have been experiencing, we decided to add another large-format, fully automated pile turner to our plant, and the Baumann BSW7-2000 fitted the bill perfectly.

“The build quality of the Baumann pile turner is very high and represents really great value for money for us.”

The business has also recently installed a new trim extraction system from Impact Air Systems, to replace a previous system that was no longer operating effectively. The new system will handle trim from existing and additional production lines.

“We are very pleased with all aspects from design to installation to performance, resulting in less downtime, which was caused by breakdowns and blockages in the old waste system,” said Brearey.

“We have also now been able to fill our compactors totally, resulting in fewer collections, reducing the number of lorries on the road, while enabling us to recycle more material.”

Offset Print & Packaging has also recently become the first UK customer to purchase the new generation Koenig & Bauer Rapida 145. The large-format sheetfed offset press will be installed in early 2023.

The business employs 100 staff at its circa-10,700sqm site and achieved a turnover of £15.5m last year. It serves clients in home entertainment, food, and beauty sectors, among others.
