NJP seals order for second 64pp KBA web

New Jarrold Printing rubber-stamped its order for a second 64pp KBA web last week.

The second press will be virtually identical to the first Compacta 818, and both will have a 1,240mm cut-off.

"We've taken the decision not to go short after extensive discussions with clients. And it's helpful that we already have a short cut-off press," said managing director Bob Pitts.

NJP has also decided not to put the first new 64pp web into its existing Whitefriars site in Norwich. Instead it will go straight to the new factory at Wymondham. Pitts and his team are "waiting for a definitive go from the lawyers" before construction starts.

"Mobilisation could be as quickly as next week," he said.

The first press should be delivered in October to be up and running by the year end, with the second press arriving in December and running in Q1 2006.

KBA has hired former Polestar Colchester production director Terry Thompson as project manager to oversee the move. "We want to repeat our success at Woodford Litho, with an installation on time and on budget," said UK managing director Christian Knapp.
