Last year the group ordered a MAN Roland Geoman 75 press, which will be commissioned in spring 2004 (PrintWeek, 1 November), for the press hall on the Newsquest (Oxfordshire) site.
The Schur mailroom equipment includes TGG3000 Gripper lines and four A600 stackers, four packaging lines, a bundle conveyor and palletising system. There is also connection to a Ferag Inserting Drum.
Newsquest (Oxfordshire) produces the Oxford Mail, Swindon Evening Advertiser, the Oxford Times and Wiltshires Gazette and Herald series.
Newsquest Media Group group production director Steve Long said the Schur equipment appeared to be well designed, robust and productive when he saw it in action at the manufacturers factory and at two installations.
There are 20 Schur systems in use in the UK, including ones at Morton of Horncastle, Newsquest Brighton and the Barnsley Chronicle.
The Geoman 75 press will be capable of producing 96pp colour pages at 75,000 copies per hour running straight.
MAN Roland was appointed UK distributor of Schur mailroom equipment at the beginning of the year.
