A raft of new gatherer-stitchers has been launched at Drupa by Ferag. The line-up includes the long-awaited CombiDrum machine, a mid-range version of Ferags existing 40,000cph gatherer-stitcher technology. The 340 x 310mm CombiDrum can be manually fed by up to six signature feeders with three additional infeed stations for glue-ons.

The CombiDrum will clearly distance Ferag from the competition as far as performance and flexibility is concerned. Our competitors view is that it is flexibility that counts in the gathering-stitching process, not performance, said sales director Rene Luchsinger.

Ferag also launched the MultiSertDrum Compact (MSD Compact), a compact version of the MultiSertDrum technology. The MSD Compact permits structuring, regionalisation and inserting of up to six different inserts into publications at speeds of up to 45,000cph.
