He joined in January to replace Gordon McFarlane, who had been seeking a replacement since July 1999.
McFarlane, who has a consultative role with the firm, claimed Webb had not fitted in with the Japanese management culture.
It didnt work out for either side, he said. He decided it was better to move on.
Operations manager Bob Turner has become acting strategic business unit manager. McFarlane couldnt comment on whether the firm would replace Webb.
His departure has surprised the industry.
I dont think Steve Webb would have left of his own volition, said an ex-Fuji manager. You have to question why so many managers on the sales side leave.
Ive said nothing in this industry could shock me anymore but this has, said Screen UK managing director Brian Filler. He was a breath of fresh air and seemed like a good guy.
