Moo.com partners with Facebook for 'social business card' app

Moo.com has partnered with Facebook to launch a "social business card" app that combines images from users' Facebook Timeline with their favourite quotes to create personalised business cards.

To promote the new service, which aims to "bridge the gap between online and offline", Moo.com is offering 50 free business cards to the first 200,000 Facebook users to take advantage of the new app.

The offer includes free standard postage although users can opt for an expedited delivery service at an additional cost, which was given as £8.50 for mainland UK customers.

Each of the 50 cards can feature a different photo image on the front and quote or saying on the reverse, thanks to Moo.com's Printfinity feature.

The service is available to all Facebook users worldwide, although the app has currently only been translated into the following languages: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean and Russian.

Moo.com currently does 100% of its printing in-house on four HP Indigo 5500 presses, although it has previously outsourced its UK print production to its neighbouring Clerkenwell digital printer 1st Byte.

Moo expects to manage the bulk of the printing for the Facebook business cards in-house from its UK and US production sites, although a spokeswoman said that the company had two printers on standby for any overflow.

Richard Moross, chief executive and founder of Moo.com, said: "It's clear that consumer habits of sharing business and personal information are evolving, and the lines between online social networking and offline business networking are not just blurring, but vanishing.

"This integration places Moo and Facebook at the leading edge of this new trend: seamlessly turning your dynamic online presence into a beautifully designed, high quality offline 'social' business card."

Facebook spokeswoman Jillian Stefanki added: "Timeline helps people tell their story on Facebook and feature the parts of their life that mean the most to them. The Moo.com integration makes it possible for people to take this same experience with them offline."
