ControlP has developed an online MIS software product, Internet Print Management System (IPMS), as it continues its migration from online print procurement to print software specialist.
The company can manufacture bespoke internet-based MIS systems, which are aimed at larger printers and print management companies, to track workflow between buyers, suppliers and printers.
Peter Henry, who works as a sales and strategy consultant at ControlP, said: "The internet isnt just a passing phase for print. Even now 13% of all printing has some online input, whether thats just e-mail or something more. It wont replace the face-to-face way business works, but it can enhance it."
ControlP can adapt the IPMS system to include estimate requests and quotes, ordering, file transfer, job tracking, account histories, PDF creation and personalised printing.
"Theres a base system that suits 75% of a companys needs, the rest we tailor. Its like an MIS, but not confined within the walls of just one company. Each company can access its own account details through password-protected areas," said Henry.
IPMS can be integrated with ControlPs lower-end software systems, eprint and Templates, which are designed to give medium-sized and small printers online ordering and design capabilities.
"Printers always talk about tight margins, but these systems can really make a difference," said Henry.
Templates operates with Pantone, as opposed to CMYK values.
ControlP has claimed that it is on the verge of signing two deals on the continent.
