Ashgate Automation has officially been placed in liquidation.

Ashgate, which supplied print finishing equipment, had liquidators Simon Lowes and Stephen Powell appointed from Begbies Traynor on 6 April 2023.

The firm sold some of its chattel assets by auction before entering into creditors' voluntary liquidation (CVL) in order to realise the most it could for winding up. The company's remaining assets will be realised by the liquidators.

The Oxfordshire-based company was the sole UK supplier of Fastbind products, and one of several for Kasfold. Ashgate, which employed four, stopped trading in March 2023.

Printweek understands that one of Ashgate’s engineers is in the process of establishing a business to service clients’ Kasfold and Fastbind machines.

Fastbind encouraged customers to get in touch directly for purchases of machines or parts, adding that it would assist them by email or video in the event of any difficulties with equipment.

Family-run Ashgate was founded in 1989 by John Price. His son Lewis Price joined in 1999 and subsequently managed the business from 2014 after his father passed away.

Printweek has contacted Ashgate for comment.
