LF Everett updates press hall with Hans Gronhi install

Commercial printer LF Everett & Son has installed a two-colour Hans Gronhi GH522NP press as part of a technology update that will increase its capacity, quality and productivity.

The machine has replaced four mono Heidelberg, Multilith and AB Dick presses at the Norfolk-based firm’s premises.

The company agreed the purchase with supplier Printers Superstore after visiting its head office at Leeds and completed the deal at Ipex for a cost of around £80,000.

“The main reason for the investment was to reinvent ourselves, in a way; it's a complete update. The new machine has replaced our four old presses which we sold to a dealer,” said managing director Bob Everett.

“We’ve found that there’s still a need for basic mono and two-colour business forms, NCR sets and that sort of thing. It was a question of updating so we can do that more efficiently and with a cleaner operation.”

The GH522NP is equipped with a numbering and perforating unit, which will aid the company with this type of work.

Printers Superstore installed the press last month and trained the firm’s press operator, Everett’s son Jonny.

The firm, which has three regular staff and a turnover of nearly £300,000 a year, operates from a 279sqm premises in Dereham, Norfolk. It offers a litho and digital print design and finishing service and produces a range of general commercial print including business cards, brochures and magazines.

“We do an increasing amount of short-run magazine work for things like parish publications and local clubs, anything from 500 to a couple of thousand copies and maybe 36 pages,” said Everett.

“I think in time we will maybe go for some kind of automated collate, fold and stitch machine, so that will be our next move.”
