Korsnäs Artisan has a silky smooth surface and, according to the company, features excellent printing capabilities.

It is a high-white, multi-layered board made of 100% virgin fibre and is available from 270-390gsm.

As well as its attraction for the luxury packaging market, the material is recyclable and made of compostable ingredients. It has also been approved for contact with food.

A spokesman for the company said: "The new board has a very interesting soft touch allowing for new unique packaging experiences.

"The long, tough and resilient fibres make for an extremely strong and formable material and the single-coated, silky smooth surface offers excellent printing properties."

The cartonboard is aimed at packaging applications for the cosmetics, perfume and exclusive confectionary sectors.
