Kolorcraft invests £1.25m in Inca Onset X series

West Yorkshire-based POS specialist Kolorcraft has purchased an Inca Onset X3 wide-format digital printer as part of its ongoing investment programme.

The 3.2m-wide device was ordered at Drupa and is currently being installed at the firm's Ossett facility. It will join Kolorcraft's existing wide-format digital presses including two Durst devices, a 1030 and a P10, which were bought in 2014 as part of a £2.2m capex programme, and an Inca S40. The 2014 spend also included the UK’s first Bickers Tapejet purchase and a Bickers Gluejet, which followed the Durst installations at the end of that year.

“We found that the X3 made the perfect partner for our existing range of large format digital presses. Speed, quality, handling and set-up times were all key influencing factors in our decision making process,” said Kolorcraft managing director Phil Findley.

The Onset X3 can print up to 900sqm/hr and features 14 or 27-picolitre print heads and three CMYK ink channels plus the choice of white or orange.

Findley said that the new device would significantly increase capacity at the business and would support the growing demand for targeted POS based on geography, demography, variable retail pricing and product profiling, as well as reducing cost and waste.

The Inca Onset X3, like Kolorcraft’s Durst and Bickers investments, has once again been funded through a combination of asset finance and an investment grant from Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership's Business Growth Programme.

“Kolorcraft have made significant investment in hardware and software solutions over the last few years,” said Findley.

“Our intention is to continue our investment program in both high-end print production and finishing hardware, underpinned by further significant investment in “end2end” our campaign management and retail support online solution,” he added.

Kolorcraft employs nearly 220 people across four divisions; The Design Foundry, Kolorcraft Print Production, Kolorcraft Logistics and end2end Online Solutions.

The business expects to turnover more than £24m this year, Findley said.
