The five-unit M600 with coater is the companys first press purchase since its acquisition from Littlewoods by an MBO team fronted by managing director Steve Hearty just over six months ago (PrintWeek, 4 April). At the time, Hearty said he planned to buy a 16pp web.
JCM Print Services business services director Rose Hines said that the M600, which has Autoplate and a 630mm cut-off, would be able to handle a broader range of work than the firms existing 8pp Heidelberg.
The press will run alongside a six-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 and eight-colour Muller Martini Concept. It could be competitive on runs as low as 5,000 by using Autoplate, and will also feature inline perforating and re-moist gluing.
Hines said JCM planned to run the press alcohol-free, adding: We have always been conscientious about environmental and heath and safety issues and we also believe that buyers have a genuine concern in this area.
