JCM Print Services in administration

Liverpool-based printer JCM Print Services has gone into administration, with the majority of its 70 staff made redundant.

David Moore and David Rankin, partners at Begbies-Traynor, were appointed as joint administrators to the company on 6 May, after it made an application to court for protection.

The holding company, JCM Group UK is also in administration.

Moore said the company had suffered unsustainable losses throughout this year.

Moore said he was discussing the possibility of a sale of the company with managing director Steve Hearty.

"A more streamlined operation may well be attractive to other printing companies who are potential purchasers," said Moore.

Despite calls to the plant no one was available for comment.

The company installed a Heidelberg M-600 16pp web press in October 2003.

It also runs two six-colour B1 Heidelberg Speedmasters, an 8pp Heidelberg web and an eight-colour Muller Martini web.

JCM Print Services emerged through a management buyout when Littlewoods decided to sell JCM Media's print division.

The sale followed a review of Littlewoods print operations.

At the time of the MBO Hearty said the business had retained a contract with Littlewoods and hoped to expand its web printing side of the business.

The MBO was led by Hearty, a former director of JCM Media, and supported by business services director Rose Hines.
