Jardin lands world first by installing Inca FastJet

Jardin Corrugated Cases of Cambridgeshire will become the first firm in the world to fit Incas FastJet ink-jet press (pictured) for corrugated cardboard.

The press, developed in conjunction with Sun Chemical by the Cambridge firm, is currently running in Inca's factory prior to moving to Jardin next month.

"We see lots of new market opportunities with FastJet and are proud to be a development partner for the technology," said Jardin managing director Kevin Hennessy.

"The Jardin installation marks the next step in the evolution of this exciting new technology from the concept stage to full commercialisation," said Sun Chemical director of digital packaging Stefan Slembrouck.

Inca and Sun will use data from Jardin to further develop the kit and plan two more test installations before commercial shipments commence.

Inca unveiled its plans to work with Sun to develop a UV-cured press for the corrugated packaging market at Drupa. The machine is designed to offer an economical means to produce short-run print that compares with flexo corrugated print.
