IPTech has previewed its new pre-press workflow management tool. The nAct software package, designed for the OEM market, incorporates Adobe Extreme digital imaging architecture. The first units will be available towards the end of the year.
"We've tried to keep it as simple as possible," said product manager David Franzen. "nAct has been designed for ease of use; the focus is on the job's status, not the process stages. We're also very pleased to be working with Adobe."
nAct uses a Web browser-based interface from which it is possible to monitor and log the progress of each job within the system, controlled by its job ticket which includes a complete audit trail.
According to Franzen, once a job has been entered into nAct, its progress can be easily monitored and controlled via the interface which allows users to filter work based on status or current process. "nAct is an ideal digital front end for a variety of workflows," he said. "We see it being popular with users going computer to plate and computer to press."
The second release of the software, currently still under development, will offer preflighting, colour management, load balancing for the RIP and CIP3 support.
