IPPSA founder Andrew Bartlett dies

Andrew Bartlett, the founder of the International Print Purchasing Standards Association (IPPSA), has passed away aged 53.

Bartlett died on 3 May at his home in Gloucester.

Born on October 7 1962, Bartlett formed IPPSA in 2005 with a vision of creating a family of print buyers to create an association that would enable buyers, corporates and printers to collaborate together, using an online portal called Collabor-rate.

It provides support for internal corporate print buyers and matches clients with the most appropriate printers. Activities include print training and group buying.

Bartlett said in 2005 that the remit of the organisation covered the entire supply chain, from the forest to the customer, and would cover the purchase of all types of printed materials from stationery to packaging.

Friend and IPPSA member Jeff Richards, print services manager at Npower, said: “Andrew was a visionary and he pioneered collaboration well over a decade ago, before it became the buzz word it is today. He had a lot of friends in the print industry.”

Bartlett’s wife Liz said: “He had such a vision for IPPSA. He just lived for it really.”

Bartlett’s funeral will be held at Holy Trinity, Vicarage/Church Road, Gloucester, GL2 0AJ at 1.30pm on Thursday 19 May followed by a wake at the Riverside Sport Club, Gloucester. All friends and colleagues are welcome to attend.
