The print industry is hoping to trend globally today on this year’s International Print Day.

The annual celebration of print got underway in the US at 6pm Eastern time yesterday (25 October) – 11am local time in New Zealand and 9am local time in Australia today – and will finish in the US at 6pm Eastern time today.

International Print Day provides education and creative inspiration via 24 hours of open knowledge sharing on social media.

The day provides participants with access to a wealth of information on global companies, products, and services from the print and marketing community, and serves as a platform for global networking opportunities.

Its aim is to get print trending worldwide through 24 hours of social media by using the hashtag #IPD22.

This year’s theme is #PrintSmart, which represents working with the right tools and partners to maximise creative, marketing, and business results through print.

Last year’s event generated more than 14.6 million impressions, with more than 100 million impressions for International Print Day recorded to date.

Deborah Corn, principal at Print Media Centr, founder of International Print Day, said the day – much like the recent Girls Who Print Day, which Print Media Centr also hosted – was an opportunity for the industry to celebrate what we do.

“Whether together or apart, community driven events like these remind us that we are all part of the bigger picture, and that there is much to be big, bold and proud of.”

A number of printers and suppliers from across the UK industry have been getting involved, including Blake Envelopes, Tharstern, Denmaur Paper Media, Route 1 Print, and Creation Repro.
