First buy in the UK

Indian coding specialist acquires UK partner in £1m deal

Codeology supplies a range of specialist products

Indian coding and marking specialist Control Print has acquired a controlling stake in the UK’s Codeology Group.

Codeology Group is a designer and manufacturer of large character inkjet printers, typically used for outer case printing, coding, and for print and apply label printers.

The £1m deal, via Control Print’s Netherlands subsidiary, is for a majority stake of 50.49% in the Salisbury business.

It is Control Print's first move into the UK market. The business lays claims to being the leading Indian manufacturer in the coding and marking industry.

The group had previously acquired a majority stake in Dutch coding specialist Markprint in the summer of 2022, in a €1.5m (£1.3m) deal.

Regarding its latest acquisition, Control Print stated: "The object of the acquisition of equity is considered for the company as strategic long-term investment to have access to their technology as well as access to the international market."

The deal includes Codeology Group's two subsidiaries, Codeology Ltd and Carton Handling Solutions Ltd. The combined businesses employ around ten staff according to filings at Companies House.

Carton Handling Solutions is a systems integrator encompassing all aspects of packing, processing and packaging.

The businesses had an existing association as Control Print was already Codeology’s distribution and manufacturing partner in India.

Codeology was founded in 2005.
