Le Journal currently prints 48 of its 128 pages in colour on its four nine-unit Goss presses. The Colorman systems will bring all 128 pages up to full colour.
The newspaper, which has the largest circulation in Quebec, is looking to add the new presses as quickly as possible. "It is a very aggressive timeline we've developed together with MAN Roland," said vice president of production at the Journal, Denis Tetrault. "The first of the three presses will be producing in less than 12 months from the day we signed the contract."
All the systems in Le Journal's new 61,000sqm facility are due to begin operation in Spring 2007.
Tetrault expects to chop 40% off the time it takes crews to change plates with the Colorman's Power Plate Loading (PPL) System.
Le Journal de Montral is part of Sun Media Corporation, Canada's largest chain of tabloids and community newspapers, owned by Quebecor Media.
