Harrier LLC installs Horizon book-binding system

Harrier LLC has installed a Horizon BQ470V PUR book-binding system from Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) for its Truprint photobook business.

The Newton Abbot-based company, which is owned by US-based processor District Photo and runs the online photobook service Truprint, said it looked for eight months for a book-binding system before settling on the Horizon, which cost around £150,000, including several modifications.

Harrier LLC planning and solutions manager James Belton said: "The type of substrate we use is digital paper with a low fibrousness. It is very difficult to get a good bind so that is why we wanted to use PUR. We also wanted a system which provided good notching to ensure a strong bind. The level of Newton pull that you get with this system is also very good."

All four clamps on the bookbinder can be set independently using Horizon software, which enables Harrier LLC to increase productivity on runs where fewer than four books are required.
