The factory will be built on 4.1 acres of land at Pioneer Park and will double CCLs existing factory space to 6,100m2 by the end of the year.
The lure of the M62 access routes and the opportunity for a custom built packaging plant proved impossible to resist.
Machinery will move into the new site on 1 October this year and we expect full production there to begin this time next year, said CCL Label project manager David Dawson.
The firm, part of Canadian group CCL Industries, employs 106 people working to produce products for the personal care, household cleaners, beverage, food and pharmaceutical markets.
CCL Industries has 24 label plants worldwide, with total sales in the division of C$414m. The Leeds operation was bought by CCL from Jarvis Porter in 2002.
