Goss unveils single-chopper web folder for M-600 presses

Goss has unveiled a new single-chopper commercial web folder for its M-600 press models, capable of outputting up to 65,000 copies an hour.

The JF-65 SQF combination folder, which features one rotary chopper, can reach these speeds with a single stream delivery for magazine and tabloid products.

Goss claims that with only a single chopper to adjust, the folder offers consistently accurate folding throughout the entire process.

The Goss JF-65 SQF folder also incorporates a web-severing device for paper jams and a three-part jaw folding cylinder to accommodate various paper stock thicknesses.

Goss International product management director Jean-Claude Pautrat said: "Before this technical improvement, high speeds were only possible by sending consecutive copies through an upper and lower chopper.

He added that through combining a new tape transport system with copy control devices, optimised chopper balancing and vacuum slow-down, "we have been able to eliminate one chopper for a streamlined and more efficient folding operation".
