GOP sets 2006 turnover target

Consumables dealer GOP has announced ambitious plans to double its turnover by 2006 and expand its national sales network.

The Nottingham-based firm, which sells blankets for offset presses and other consumables, is planning to increase turnover to 2m on blankets alone by 2006.

Managing director Mark Carnelly said: "With the business we have at the moment, we should be at 1m turnover by the end of the year. If we can increase our coverage, 2m by 2006 is not at all pie-in-the-sky."

GOP distributes blankets from Slovenian rubber firm Sava. It says its products last up to 30% longer than normal blankets due to a rubber carcass, which reduces stretching and sinking.

GOP is now planning to expand its network of three main dealers in UK, particularly the North East, Scotland, Wales and the South. It is also in the "very early stages" of introducing a web blanket to the UK market.

Carnelly also reported that Joe Soiza, formerly technical sales manager, has been promoted to technical director.
