The software, which was released last week, allows printer manufacturers to develop their own drivers with support for new and emerging Page Definition Languages (PDL).
Paul Collins, Global Graphics’ RIP technologies product manager, said: “Our new range of toolkits excels at processing PDLs and other document formats at high speed. The Harlequin Host Renderer SDK allows manufacturers to bring their printer driver or host-based solutions to market quickly with their chosen set of customised features.”
In addition to PS and PDF support, Global Graphics’ software has been fully compliant with Microsoft’s XML Paper Specification (XPS) since its original release, thanks to a partnership deal signed with Microsoft in 2003.
The Harlequin Host Renderer SDK is part of a new range of SDKs for driver-based, embedded and server-based applications that share a common architecture based on Global Graphics’ Harlequin RIP.
Collins said: “When [manufacturers] want to scale up or expand their solutions to other devices in their range, they can do so because our new SDKs are based on a common RIP architecture.”
