Fuji integrates ISIG as it reports rising sales in Q1

Fujifilm Graphic Systems says it increased sales of both consumables and equipment in the first quarter of 2003.

Divisional director Keith Dalton, who joined in March (PrintWeek, 28 March), said the firm was "catching our pound of flesh", but admitted the market was still tough.

Fuji said overall sales revenue rose 8% on the same period last year and volumes were also up. The B1 and B2 Luxel violet platesetters had "rapidly gained market acceptance", while the Brillia LP-NN2 photopolymer CTP plate had been successful in the newspaper market.

Dalton has also decided to fully integrate Fujifilm ISIG, the companys software development wing that developed the Valiano Business Management System, into Graphic Systems.

He hopes the move will lead to a stronger customer-facing business. There will be no job losses but some staff may be deployed in positions where they can be better utilised. ISIG manager Andy Walker will now report directly to Dalton.

In an interview with (PrintWeek in June, Dalton said he aimed to improve the efficiency of the business ((PrintWeek, 12 June).
