Former Sony MD named Duplo boss

Andy Benson, the former managing director of Sony’s Nordic branch, has been named as managing director of Duplo, replacing the departing Peter Jolly.

Benson will take up the role on 29 August and commence a handover period with Jolly, who will be moving to HP in mid-September to head up its Indigo and inkjet division, replacing the retiring Ian Kimber.

Benson said he was excited about the opportunity to join Duplo chairman Robin Greenhalgh and the team to continue to deliver “compelling print finishing solutions to our customers”.

“I've been impressed with the commitment, the open and friendly atmosphere in the organisation and look forward to meeting with the staff and our UK customers in the near future,” he said.

Greenhalgh said: “Andy has a wealth of experience and will bring a fresh approach and a raft of new ideas to help take forward Duplo UK to continue to grow sales.

“We’re indebted to Peter Jolly for his drive and enthusiasm, and wish him well for the future in his new role. Now we look forward to the next stages as we take our business on to another level and even further improve our brand. The UK is a crucial part of this.”

Benson joined Sony as a graduate trainee more than 25 years ago and rose through the ranks, working as an operations and a commercial director before relocating to the Copenhagen Nordic branch as managing director in 2011.

After departing from Sony in 2015 to set up his own consultancy firm, Consensus Group, Benson had a brief interlude with SC Gaming as group commercial director, before returning to Consensus in the early part of this year. He is married with two children and lives in Guildford, Surrey, close to Duplo’s Addlestone headquarters.
