FFEI builds 2m HQ to replace building destroyed by Buncefield

FFEI has announced plans to invest 2m in a new headquarters, following the destruction of its previous home in the 2005 Buncefield oil depot explosion.

The Hemel Hempstead-based company, which was forced to relocate to temporary premises following the Buncefield blaze, has now set its sights on a new 6,100sqm HQ and technology centre.

Managing director Andy Cook said: "Since the MBO from Fujifilm in 2006, we have been investing heavily in several advanced new technologies.

"With the recent introduction of a range of new products and a growing number of partnerships, the new site will future-proof the FFEI business, providing cutting-edge technology and production facilities."

FFEI revealed its new site would include an R&D and manufacturing centre that will house, among other things, its CTP production facility, which is currently based in Peterborough.

The company, which currently operates from three sites including Hemel Hempstead and Peterborough, expects its new integrated operation to be completed by December.

Cook said: "This latest investment in our world-class facilities will provide us with a better infrastructure to continue our growth in new technology areas."
