Favini gets second FSC credit

Italian paper manufacturer Favinis Meerssen mill has gained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, the second mill in the group to achieve the accreditation.

The move follows Favini marketing director Chris Brown's declaration in July this year, that two more of the group's mills, including Meerssen, would be certified (PrintWeek, 29 July).

"Having a second mill FSC certified is important, and shows we take preservation seriously," he said. The accreditation follows Favini's Apeldoorn mill's FSC certification in April this year.

The Meerssen mill produces Favini's Alga Carta paper, manufactured from algae from the Venice lagoon and recycled fibres.

Brown said the firm's Veneto mill would be next in line for the environmental accreditation, which he hoped would take place before the end of the year.
