Falkland Press on the acquisition trail

A Hertfordshire printer is defying the recession and is on the look out for local acquisitions.

Falkland Press managing director Jon Lancaster told PrintWeek that he felt acquisition was the best way for his business to grow.

He said: "It is difficult to find new business at the moment, but I am sure there are lots of older printers not too far away looking to get out. I have seen a lot of administrations and many don't seem to find a buyer.

"We are looking for companies with around a £1m turnover, and we are looking for printers that handle niche work rather than long run commercial work."

Lancaster, whose company is set to record a £1.5m turnover this year, has also lauded his company's new website, which he claims is one of the easiest online ordering systems in the country.

He has spent more than £100,000 upgrading www.printedeasy.com, which has a simple check box system that instantly updates prices for a wide range of the company's products.

He said: "We have had a number of customers who now regularly buy just using the website. I have not seen another website like it for buying print online."
