Expert Print continues expansion with raft of new kit

Commercial printer Expert Print has continued to grow its business after taking delivery of a second Heidelberg Speedmaster and a range of new finishing kit.

The Speedmaster XL 75 B2 press, which can print at speeds of up to 18,000sph, was delivered to the Doncaster-based firm’s factory in May.

General manager Brett Stubbings said: “Our Speedmaster CD 102 is more or less full to the brim so we upgraded a Speedmaster 52 that we had to the XL 75. It’s got the full Inpress Control system to give us a high-quality turnaround.

“It’s faster and gives us better quality for some new contracts we’ve got. We’ve secured a few more football clubs, a rugby club and we look like we might be getting a local transport contract, which would be really good for us.

“A lot of the work that we would have put on the B1 press is now on the XL 75 because we’ve got that much longer-run work on the CD 102.”

A B1 Stahlfolder, a Horizon SPF-200L bookletmaker, a Norpak polywrapper and Tharstern MIS have also been installed over the past few months.

The Norpak device has enabled the company to bring polywrapping in-house.

“One of the contracts we’ve got is a polywrap 200,000-run mailer each month so it was a bit daft to keep outsourcing it. We want to keep as much as we can in-house to make it a one-stop shop,” said Stubbings.

The new machinery was bought from Leeds-based print equipment reseller White Horse Machinery.

The investments follow the purchase of the CD 102 as well as a Horizon perfect binder and folder, a Foliant laminator, a Polar 137 guillotine and a Muller Martini Bravo S in 2014.

The firm’s next planned investments are another B1 folder and a bigger laminator.

Expert Print has 23 staff and is forecasting a turnover of around £3.8m to £4m for this financial year.

The company produces items including brochures, magazines, POS, letterheads, leaflets, flyers, brochures and business stationery for customers including end-users, print management companies, motor dealers and sports clubs.
