Admins appointed

End of the line for Greenshires

Source close to company cited "loss after loss each year and not enough sales"

Greenshires Group has gone into administration, with all employees laid off.

The future for the Leicester business appeared doubtful when a Notice of Intention to Appoint Administrators was filed earlier this month.

Printweek can confirm that John Lowe and Nathan Jones of law firm Shakespeare Martineau were officially appointed as joint administrators of the business on Friday 23 February.

Greenshires has ceased trading, according to a former employee. It had offered a range of services including litho and digital printing of high-end marketing materials, point-of-sale production, and rigid box making.

Local sources said that on the same day the administrators were appointed employees were called in and told their roles were redundant, and given information about how to apply to the government’s Redundancy Payments Service (RPS) for their wages and redundancy pay.

The firm, established in 1963, had employed around 53 staff.

A source close to the situation told Printweek: “It’s very sad because it was a good company with some talented people.

“But this was on the cards when you look at the figures, it was loss after loss each year and not enough sales.”

Greenshires Group had negative retained earnings of £579,543 on 31 March 2023, the last balance sheet date.

Printweek has approached Shakespeare Martineau for comment.

Greenshires is owned by members of the Yell family.
