Duplo aims DuBinder at short-run book sector

Finishing kit manufacturer Duplo is looking to cash in on the growing short- and medium-run book market with the launch of its first high-production, fully automatic perfect binder.

The DuBinder DPB-500 is a single-clamp system that can handle output from both offset and digital presses at speeds of up to 525 books an hour.

According to Duplo, the machine creates a strong-quality bind and sleek finish on a range of applications including books, directories, manuals and magazines.

The DuBinder can be pre-set with up to 20 different automatic programmes to control a range of specifications, including book thickness, side gluing, cover feed, cover press, and crease positions.

Terry Wafer, product marketing manager at Duplo, based in Esher, Surrey, said: “With the continuing upward trend in the global book production market, we are confident that the DuBinder will be popular in a variety of different print environments.”

The system’s range of inbuilt features, such as double sheet detector and book thickness sensor, ensures it operates precisely at all times.

Wafer added: “However, I believe it is the ability to achieve accuracies within 0.01mm while operating within a totally toolless environment that will really set the DuBinder apart.”
